Hi, I’m Claire, a psychiatric nurse in New York. I’m raising money to help my friend Yousef cross the border into safety once it reopens, and to afford food and clean drinking water. Here’s Yousef in his own words:
I am Youssef from Palestine. I’m studying at the university, majoring in Information Technology. I’ve suffered a lot and worked hard to study and complete my education despite the difficult circumstances and the financial situation that I live with my family. When I was about to finish my studies at the university and reached the final stage (graduate), something unexpected happened. The war. Yes, it is the one that lasted and destroyed everything. It destroyed my home, scattered my family, destroyed my university, and destroyed all my ambitions. I never imagined that one day I would see the home I was born in in ruins, and my university, which I was eagerly waiting to finish my studies in, destroyed, and nothing remains of it but rubble. I hope that you will help me and my family so that we can afford to eat, afford medications, afford clean water, and text books.
This is our final cry for help to save my cat, Biso. It’s over.
I can’t guarantee his survival anymore!
We are terrified for our lives. No safety, no food, no clean water. Only fear, silence, hunger, and disease.
All we ask for is a chance to survive. A meal. A safe night. A drop of hope.
